Watts Martin is the writer of an excellent series of anthropomorphic stories set in the Ranean Empire, on a world that is a dimensional crossroads between several realities. Magic is commonplace, though technology is also known. On this world, humans are but one species of dozens that are sentient. Elf-like Sihde, anthropomorphic felines, canines, vulpines, and even rare bats populate this world.

A notable set of stories include a species of anthropomorphic vampire bats. This adds a bit of a gothic flavor to the tales. They are, in order of writing:
